Description: Significant June 28, 1970 Forbes Field Final Out Baseball. Light to moderately soiled Feeney NL baseball as hit by Chicago Cubs shortstop Don Kessinger to Bill Mazeroski who recorded an un-assisted force out at second base. Mazeroski touched second base forcing out Willie Smith who had previously singled with two outs in the ninth inning and thus recorded the final out at the historic Pittsburgh baseball stadium. "Last Out at Forbes Field June 28. 1970" written by Mazeroski on side panel of the ball rating 8/9 out of 10. Included with the baseball are several period articles originating from Mazeroski's personal scrapbook one of which details the very putout recorded with this baseball. Additionally included is an original ticket stub to the game from Mazeroski's personal scrapbook likely used by his wife Milene. Very clean condition overall with some minor adhesive residue on the reverse. Forbes Field played host to countless memorable baseball moments over the years inclusive of the 1925 World Series as well as the 1944 and 1959 All-Star Games. The 1960 World Series home games for the Pirates were also played at Forbes Field with the hometown Pirates defeating the Yankees in seven games. Fittingly, the final out which was recorded with this very baseball, was executed by the man whose iconic moment stands as the greatest moment in the history of the venue. We have had the privilege in our twenty one year company history to offer numerous "final out" baseballs of significance. It is worthy of noting the incredible scarcity of the primary source provenance which applies to the offered baseball having been hit directly to Bill Mazeroski for the un-assisted putout. Very desirable baseball of the highest import. The baseball is currently not autographed by Bill Mazeroski but will be included if the winning bidder desires as much. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and the original articles from Mazeroski's scrapbook: EX
