Description: Magnificent c.1940-1950s "Yankees" team logo tile mosaic as hung in old Yankee Stadium. Hand laid tile mosaic removed from Yankee Stadium prior to renovations in the early 1970s and originally offered at auction on June 29, 1974 when a sizable quantity of material was sold to benefit the Forest Hills Little League. Measures a full (3) feet by (3) feet and is edged in metal (1.25" deep) with hundreds of hand placed colored tiles set to display the famed top hat logo which was introduced in the mid-1940s. Although we know the piece hung in Yankee Stadium it is unclear exactly where, however a period image of the "Stadium Club" shows a similar display (though from a rather far vantage) mounted behind the bar. In fine overall condition with just a hint of light natural aging: EX/MTEstimated Price Range: ($10,000-$20,000)
