Description: Del Rice professional model late 1950s to early 1960s catcher's mitt with related material. Rawlings mitt retaining well defined "professional model", "HF" and "Deep Well Pocket" markings on interior and period "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag on back. Displays appropriate usage wear with well defined pocket. Webbing appears original and remains intact as does the wrist strap. Vintage signed and inscribed along pinky area in ink, "To Terry - Randy, Good Luck, Del Rice." "Rice" is written on twice in faded vintage black marker on outside. Includes black and white candid snapshot of Rice with two young boys (one of whom is holding a mitt) and trimmed postcard of Rice which bears printed signature that is inscribed above, "To Terry." Rice enjoyed a lengthy (17) year playing career and was highly regarded for his defensive skill behind the plate. As a member of the St Louis Cardinals he was with the team when they won the World Series in 1946 and later repeated the feat with Atlanta in 1957.
