Lot Number: 486

Description: Gene Woodling New York Yankees professional model road jersey c.1951-1952 with World Series attribution. Road gray jersey with "New York" block lettered across the front has player number "14" on back. "Spalding" tag in collar along with adjacent size "44" tag and an embroidered strip tag below reads "G Woodling 1951-52." Although unusual, this tagging combination/style has surfaced on several prior occasions and is attributed to jerseys prepared for use in the 1951 World Series. In addition, a photograph taken during that Series depicts Manager Casey Stengel in the locker room with jerseys tagged in the same style (and also lacking the 1951 and 1952 patches worn during the regular season) clearly visible. Evident usage and wash wear throughout with some discoloration at upper right shoulder. Desirable all original flannel as relates to a noted member of all (5) Yankees World Series Championship teams of the era. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
