Description: Significant 1961 Warren Spah The Sporting News Major League Pitcher of the Year award. Awarded annually by The Sporting News, the offered citation was presented to Spahn in honor of his selection as the Major League Baseball Pitcher of the Year for the 1961 season. Hand stenciled citation features hand tinted color appointments having been signed at the bottom by Sporting News Publisher J.G. Taylor Spink in black fountain pen. The certificate measures 15"x17" in its original frame remaining in very fine overall condition save for the Spink signature which has faded from aging. Spahn's 1961 season was among the most notable of his career in which he threw his second no hitter and reached the benchmark milestone of 300 career wins with yet another 20 win season.
