Description: Rare 1903 World Series souvenir trade cards. Original thick stock cards as issued by Mike "Nuf Ced" McGreevy of Boston+s famed Royal Rooters group as a souvenir for the inaugural World Series in 1903. First example is a one sided card with the Rooters+ preferred battle song "Tessie" printed at center with "Rooter+s Souvenir Boston-Pittsburg Oct. 1903 M.T. McGreevy" above. Bottom of card has union printer+s mark along with "3d Base Nuffsaid" indicative of McGreevy+s saloon. Light general handling wear is visible with some minor age toning and a few small surface creases, 2 _"x4": VG-EX. Second card displays a portrait image of Nuf Ced McGreevy himself titled underneath "3rd Base McGreevy On The Avenue Nuffsaid". Reverse of the card is titled "Rooter+s Souvenir Boston-Pittsburg Oct. 1903 M.T. McGreevy" at the top. Center of the card features lyrics for three Rooters "chants" specifically issued for the group to use at the 1903 World Series games given the presence of several references to the Pittsburgh club. Card shows heavy use with soiling, edge damage, and losses to top corner and one side. Bottom left corner is present but detached. We could not locate another example of this particular card: PR-GD. Notably significant pair of souvenir cards relating to the inaugural 1903 World Series with obvious scarcity relevant to their original manufactured quantity and intended use.
