Description: Rare Al Simmons professional model baseball bat c.1942. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" and weighs 37.8oz. Strong evident use is visible on the bat including ball marks, stitching impressions, grain swelling, and several period bat boy finish nails on the back of the barrel to secure an area of grain swelling from use. Faded "10" in period black ink on the knob end coupled with the dating period of the bat markings indicate use by Simmons as a member of the Red Sox in 1943. The offered bat matches Simmons' Hillerich & Bradsby Co. factory PBOR records designating it as an M31 model and is the first of its type to be attributed to Simmons as a member of the Red Sox.
