Description: Baseball chalkware figural statue c.1907. Large 22" tall figural pitcher retains the majority of its original bronze wash paint and attractive original surface. The figure is signed with a stamped impression on the back of the base, "The American ? Co., Philadelphia Pa" with date of "1907." Remains in fine condition overall with some scattered small chipping primarily to the base. While not formally identified, the statue resembles the distinct pose commonly associated with Christy Mathewson. One of only a handful we have encountered, likely the result of construction from exceedingly fragile material: EXEstimated Price Range: ($2,000-$3,000)
