Description: Magnificent 1915 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies pocketwatch presented to Milt Stock. Exceptional quality (23) jewel 14K gold presentational pocket watch by noted maker Howard has "MJS" blue enameled monogram on back of casing. Opens to reveal hand engraved titling which reads in full, "Presented to you as a member of the First Philadelphia Championship Team of the National League 1915" and signed in print "F.T. Stotesbury Chairman." Marked around the edge "E.Howard Watch Co. Boston" with additional "14K" stamping. Working and in very fine overall condition appearing almost like new and retaining original period chain. Very small chip to enamelwork on one letter and a touch of surface wear near flange which opens the back. Housed within original wooden presentational box (light wear). Very fine early piece of Championship jewelry as relates to the Phillies Franchise first League Championship season, a feat which they would not repeat for another (35) years. Lead by the venerable G.C. Alexander who produced one of the great season long pitching performances of all-time, the Phillies met Boston in the World Series noted for the first post-season appearance of Babe Ruth. Stock, then just (21) years old with only (2) Major League seasons under his belt was embarking on what would become a life long career in baseball. This newly discovered specimen is one of only two such examples that we have encountered: EX/MT
