Description: Exceptional Ted Williams autographed early 1950s professional model baseball bat as presented to Mickey Vernon. Louisville Slugger 125 model baseball bat retaining bold impressed "Ted Williams" facsimile signature in the barrel end and "W166" model number in knob. Measures 35" long and weighs 33oz. Ordering records indicating that bats of this specification were made for and shipped to Williams in the early 1950s. Very fine evident usage wear with impressed ball and stitch markings, several faint rack marks, and cleat marks at barrel end which has a hint of minor grain swelling. Handle has a moderate coat of period pine tar applied. In addition, the handle has been scored to aid in grip. Bold "9" as executed at time of use appears on the knob. Signed on the barrel "Ted Williams" in blue marker rating 8/9 out of 10. Although Hunt Auctions has previously been afforded the privilege on prior occasion to have offered the personal collection of Mickey Vernon this particular bat was retained as one of his prized possessions throughout his life.
