Description: 1973 Jim Palmer Cy Young Award. Important original award as presented to Jim Palmer following the 1973 season in which he won (22) games with a League leading 2.40 ERA and struck out (158). The first of what would become (3) total earned during his career. Black painted wooden plaque with affixed silver plated figural pitching arm positioned above placard which reads in relief, "Presented to Jim Palmer Most Valuable Pitcher American League 1973". Measures 16.5" tall and retains "Balfour" manufacturer's sticker on back. Incidental scattered wear with several minute paint chips and expected tarnish. Highly desirable piece representing one of the most recognizable high honors a pitcher can achieve and one of the more significant to have entered the marketplace with regard to level of player notoriety.
