Description: Significant Ted Williams Korean War Aviators Flight Log Book c.1952-1953. Original bound Aviators Flight Log book as carried with Ted Williams during his tenure with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War. The log begins in May of 1952, when Ted was refreshing his flight skills at Willow Grove Air Base in Pennsylvania. The log subsequently covers Williams flights while stationed in Korea through 1952 and 1953, inclusive of his noted crash in February of 1953. Signed by Williams after the entries for June of 1953, after he had been honorably discharged by the Marine Corps due to health concerns. Very interesting content found within, all of which was penned by the hand of Williams chronicling the various flights, flight hours, passengers, aircraft type, and type of flight by designated code. In addition to the aforementioned Williams' autograph, the book has been signed on the front title page along with a handwritten printed self identification. Period signatures range from 8 to 10 out of 10. Book itself remains in generally fine condition with a few minor surface abrasion areas and some vintage tape reinforcement to the spine, having "Williams T.S." written in period black marker, believed to also be in Ted's hand. Included with the lot are three period documents found within the log book to include "Combat Readiness" form signed "Theodore S. Williams" at the bottom in blue ink; Marine Squadron assignment document; and Pilot's Individual Accident of Violation record form of which Williams had none. Accompanied by a vintage 7"x9" sepia tone image picturing Ted Williams posed in the cockpit of a fighter jet. Very rare and desirable War period written account from Baseball Hall of Fame member, notable American citizen, and long serving U.S. Marine. Includes auction LOA from JSA: EX
