Lot Number: 32

Description: Lot of Ted Williams Hoover High School baseball charms c.1937. Rare and desirable set of four baseball related charms as presented to Ted Williams, as a member of the Hoover High School baseball team from 1934-1937. Includes 10K gold filled baseball shaped charm with "1937 Champions" in raised lettering along with red enameled "H" school insignia. The grouping also includes (3), 14K gold, individual figural charms of a baseball glove, hat, and cleats. Interestingly, and ironically, no bat charm, although Williams was a stellar pitcher for the Hoover team. The offered charms are very likely some of, if not, the earliest baseball related award pieces to have been received by Ted Williams. Very fine offering dating to the formative beginnings of one of the greatest careers in Major League history. Includes a framed black and white printed photographic image of the Hoover High School team picturing Ted in uniform which was from his personal collection (appears to date from the last 25 years or so) along with a small vintage lidded cardboard box from a Los Angeles retailer in which the charms were discovered: EX
