Description: Scarce Kid Gleason single signed baseball c.1920s. Reach B.Johnson red and blue stitched OAL baseball has been signed, "Wm Gleason Mgr. Chicago BB Club." Period fountain pen signature portion rates approximately 3 out of 10 with loss/flaking The remaining "Chicago BB Club" inscription is slightly better at approximately 4 to 5 out of 10. Ball displays moderate toning and light scattered wear with small area of discoloration on top panel. League stampings remain particularly bold. Gleason played for (22) years before beginning his (5) year stint as Manager of the Chicago White Sox. Taking the reigns of the club in 1919, he lead the infamous Black Sox through their scandal ridden season.
