Description: Philadelphia Phillies folk art baseball by Stan Lopata c.1951. Colorful hand painted and lettered baseball commemorating May 8, 1951 Phillies vs. Pirates game. Game was played in Shibe Park and ball pays particular attention to a home run hit by Dick Sisler. Artwork includes rendering of the Phillies period batter logo and Shibe Park outfield wall. Identical in style to a large grouping which was sold as part of the Robin Roberts estate. Evident usage wear, age toning, even coat of shellac, and very minor scuffing/crazing throughout: EX
