Description: 1910 Chief Bender handwritten letter with fine content. September 21, 1910 handwritten letter to D.A. Fletcher on “Colonial Hotel” stationery reads in part, “I have your letter…in reply to it will say that I will play…Suit measurements as follows” with listing. Signed within the body “C.A. Bender” and initialed below. Bender was at the height of his Hall of Fame career coming off his first (20) win season. Less than a month prior he had lead the Philadelphia Athletics to the first World Series Championship in club history. A few seasons later he became one of the most noted players to make a transition to the Federal League. Very light consistent age toning with incidental scattered wear and typical mailing folds. Handwriting/signature rates 8/9 out of 10 (2 small smudges where Bender erased and rewrote). Includes letter of provenance and auction LOA from JSA: EX-EX/MTEstimated Price Range: ($1,000-$2,000)
