Description: 1908 Chicago Cubs World Series Champions pendant presented to team executive Charles Williams c.1909. Presentational charm awarded to the reigning World Series victors during the following season. Features the classic "Cubbie" mascot sitting atop the earth with "09" on front in relief. A pair of crossed bats comprise the background and the Cub is holding a stone. Although a few of these figural award pieces have been offered, the majority were altered (turned into pins or tie bars) and this is the first to come to market in some time which we have documented in its original form. Magnificent piece of early Championship jewelry employing one of the most recognizable figural mascots of the era. Very minor surface wear. Includes letter of provenance from the family: EX/MT
