Description: Lot of (35) Chicago Cubs player photographs c.1917. Fine collection of period photography with subjects including team President Charles Weeghman, Manager Fred Mitchell, Three Finger Brown, Cy Williams, Hippo Vaughn, Heinie Zimmerman, and Larry Doyle. Most are pictured in Cubs uniform, several are as member of the team which the player was on the previous season. Varying degrees of wear throughout with most having pinholes at corners, general age toning/soiling, and light to moderate edge wear/chipping. Three images have measurable tear or large chip which intrudes upon central images. Good number have period handwritten identifier and many are stamped with raised lettering "Phototone Co." marking. Also includes John McGraw photograph with paper caption affixed. Generally approximately 8"x10" with a few smaller. Includes letter of provenance from the family: Range GD/VG-EX/MT (1 lesser), Avg.
