Lot Number: 463

Description: 1936 Floyd "Pep" Young Pittsburgh Pirates professional model home jersey. Cream color flannel jersey with "Pirates" team name lettered across the front and player number "26" on back. "A.G. Spalding" manufacturer's tag in collar with "Young" player name embroidered to the right in chain stitch. Note that the collar appears to have once had a different name stitched in which was removed, presumably by the team in the period. Young wore the number 26 with the team from 1933-39. Year designation "36" is embroidered in the tail in matching chain stitch. Moderate wear is evident throughout with a touch of scattered soiling, several moth holes, and small amount of loss to trim around collar. Includes 1937 Pirates souvenir newspaper with player depicted wearing similar style and modern print photo of Arky Vaughan at the 1936 All-Star Game in similar jersey as well. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
