Description: Rare Larry Doby professional model baseball bat c.1951-57. Adirondack 302 model bat measures 36" long and weights 33.4oz. Usage wear throughout with visible ball, stitch, and cleat marks. Grain swelling/separation to barrel end and "H" crack on handle which extends through centerbrand. Model "218B LD" stamped on knob. Extremely faint vestiges of a number "14" notation are visible on the knob upon close examination. Doby is a central figure within the movement for civil rights in baseball having been the first African American player in the American League. In addition, his on field accomplishments earned a spot on (7) All-Star teams and later in the Hall of Fame.
