Description: Significant "The Curse is Reversed" October 20, 2004 Boston Red vs. New York Yankees game-used base (MLB Authentication). The (86) year period from 1918-2004 was rough for fans of the Boston Red Sox; a curse, enacted by the sale of Babe Ruth by then owner Harry Frazee, lingered over the club. In the years leading up to the trade the Sox had been one of the most successful Franchises in baseball winning (5) World Series titles including the very first. In the decades that followed, despite the optimism of tens of thousands of fans each and every opening day, they came close but never made the World Series again. Fast forward to 2004. The Sox are playing the Yankees for the AL Championship and have slid down (3) games to none. Putting up an historic rally, they won three in a row and met the Yankees on October 20th for the deciding game which they won advancing to their first World Series since 1918. Actual onfield base by Schutt Sports used during the game and is one of the few to have been offered publicly. Retains MLB and LCS logos on opposite sides and has MLB Authentication hologram (MT 00510117) and "2B Pole LF" markings on underside. Evident usage wear throughout: EX
