Description: Roberto Clemente autographed 1968 Sports Illustrated poster. Large format 23.5"x36" (visible area) color photographic depiction of Clemente at bat has been signed across the front, "Para Rudi y Flo, With all the best of life, From your friend that love you, Roberto Clemente." Blue ink signature and inscription rate 8 to 9 out of 10. The series of posters issued by Sports Illustrated from 1968 to 1972 remain the most desirable display pieces of their type issued in the era. This is the first example that we have seen signed by Clemente. Framed to 30.25"x43" overall with light wear evident throughout. A series of small tears along the upper edge have been reinforced from the back and now appear as moderate creasing would. An approximately 2"x2" section is missing from the lower edge and there is an additional reinforced 3" tear above. The overall composition of the piece is such that when viewing the eye is drawn toward the central image and the wear, though visible, is not particularly severe. One of the most visually appealing Clemente signed pieces we have ever handled and quite possibly a unique example.
