Description: October 3, 1951 Bobby Thomson "Shot Heard Round The World" homerun game ticket stub. Ticket stub issued for the third playoff game between the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers to decide the 1951 National League pennant. The first game of the series was played at Ebbets Field. Game #'s 2 and 3 were played at the Polo Grounds and the tickets were numbered PO-1 and PO-2. The powerful Giants team had fallen nearly 14 games out of first place by mid-August only to mount an incredible string of victories, winning 37 of their final 44 games to tie the Brooklyn team on the final day of the season and force the three-game playoff. The teams split the first two games forcing the decisive contest on October 3rd at the Polo Grounds. In the bottom of the ninth, Bobby Thomson connected for a dramatic three run homerun to capture the NL pennant for the Giants faithful. Offered is an original ticket stub issued for the third playoff game at the Polo Grounds. Exhibits a light "touch" to (3) corners with the fourth torn off.
