Description: 1946 Robin Roberts Detroit Free Press basketball award. Prestigious trophy as awarded to Michigan's Outstanding Collegiate Basketball Player for the 1946 season. Trophy stand 20" tall with an ornate brass figural basketball player mounted atop a wooden plinth style base. Applied brass plaque is affixed to the front and is inscribed, -The Detroit Free Press Award to Michigan's Outstanding Collegiate Basketball Player 1946 Won By Robin E. Roberts Michigan State College". Overall condition remains very fine with some typical light oxidation to the front of the brass placard. Very fine trophy which speaks to Roberts exceptional overall athletic abilities.
