Description: Exceptional and rare 1939 Philadelphia Phillies professional model road uniform. Remarkably well preserved gray flannel jersey with -Phillies" red on blue felt team name lettered across the front and player number -30" on back. Left sleeve retains Centennial patch as worn throughout Major League Baseball that year. In the collar is the -Spalding" manufacturer's tag with adjacent size -38" and -Dry Clean Only" flag tags. Matching pants constructed of the same material and have -39" year identifier chain stitched inside. Identical Spalding tag in waist with -Dry Clean" flag tag and size -24" tag. Pants have red/blue piping running along seams, jersey has similar piping going up front and around the neck. The uniform was issued to the son of then team owner Gerry Nugent who allowed the boy to warm-up with the team prior to games. It remains in exemplary condition showing only the most subtle hints of use and is one of the finest all original, unaltered period uniform examples we have handled.
