Description: Scarce Willard Brown playing days autographed photograph c.1950s. 8"x10" Sepia toned photograph depicting Brown as a member of the Cangrejeros de Santurce. It has been signed on the front by Brown and team mates Tito Figueroa, Juan "Chico" Sanchez, Pepe Lucas, and an additional player who can not be identified. There is a lengthy inscription penned in unknown hand below Brown's autograph which is dated 1950-51. During that season, they won the first of what blossomed into (12) Championships. The Cangrejeros are an extremely important team in the history of Cuban baseball and through the years have had many notable players pass through including Paige, Gibson, Campanella, Clemente, and Mays. The photograph exhibits heavy wear throughout, inclusive of age toning and creasing with several areas of paper loss. Much of the heaviest damage could be matted out when framed for display.
