Description: Scarce 1920 Commerce High School baseball team photograph with Lou Gehrig. Black and white 8"x10" photo that upon initial inspection appears to be a typical 1920-30's era local team photo until one realizes that Lou Gehrig is seated in the second row, third from the right. Gehrig graduated from Commerce High School in 1920 after starring in several sports. In the 1920 inter-city championship game, played against Lane Tech at Chicago's Wrigley Field, Gehrig hit a home run over the right field fence. Image has some surface wrinkling and a border tear at right edge. Nine of the players are identified on reverse in period pencil, according to family history the photo originated from a classmate of Gehrig.
