Description: Collection of original folk art baseball illustrations by William Henry Pearce c.1887-89. Charming set of primitive original baseball illustrations as rendered by 14 year old William Henry Pearce each presenting on 10"x14" unlined album pages. Various scenes and players are depicted including several stadium views, player vignettes, and game action scenes. Several of the players and teams are identified by the artist to include: Philadelphia, Louisville, Des Moines, St. Louis, and Boston. The illustrations display a wonderful folk art appeal and are exceptionally well executed for a person of the age of 14. Additional items are included such as military and naval subject drawings on verso of baseball pages. Also included are several 1880s paper items such as Lynn, MA Primary School Certificate and several Socialist-Labor Party ephemera items.
