Lot Number: 292a

Description: Archive of baseball scoresheets and related documents c.1867-68. Interesting and relatively significant cache of materials with relation to the "Tormentors" baseball club of New Berlin, NY to include four scored sheets for games played between the Tormentors and, respectively: (2) Leonardsville, NY; Mount Upton, NY; Mystic Excelsiors, NY. Each scoresheet is neatly scored in pencil including player names; (25) blank unused scoresheets of same design as aforementioned having pre-printed dating of "186?"s ; fascinating and quite possibly unique handwritten account of a game played between the Tormentors and the Independents of Norwich, NY on June 5, 1868. As noted, the game was forfeited and the "game ball" delivered by the Independents to the Tormentors on June 9, 1868 per the rules of play. Detailed account of game including date, time, players, is found within the writings. Very fine intact collection of Civil War era baseball ephemera having excellent breakdown value: Range VG-NM

Estimated Price Range: ($2,000-$3,000)
