Description: Ted Kennedy archive related to early baseball glove design and other material c.1890s-1920s. Following a (2) year Major League career during which he played under Cap Anson for the 1885 Chicago White Stockings, Ted Kennedy became a pioneer in the field of baseball glove design. His untimely death in 1907 left his work largely unpopularized however he had previously sold patents to Spalding and developed an early corrspondence course on pitching. Includes 7"x20" "Learn Professional Curve Pitching" advertising sign (heavily creased, small chip at right edge), large format 8"x14" (5) lesson course printed on paper and bound at upper edge with eyelet, course advertising brochure, 9"x16" (unfolded) brochure picturing several styles of the Kennedy glove, (12) 3.75"x5" heavy paper stock reference cards with Kennedy's portrait on front, (19) checks drawn on the Commonwealth Trust Co. and signed by Kennedy (9 of which are made out to himself and thus triple signed), (5) later generation photo prints on paper of gloved hands and pitching form, and others. Varying degrees of wear throughout. Includes LOA from JSA (checks): Range VG-EX/MT
