Description: Very rare Johnny Bench professional model Cincinnati Reds batting helmet c.1970s. Superb vintage Cincinnati Reds batting helmet as worn by Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench. Helmet retains a period "C" on the front (earlier C visible underneath with both being original to the helmet as team executed). Back of the helmet has a period dymo label reading, "Bench" in white lettering. Interior presents in superb original condition retaining its head padding and "American Baseball Cap" paper labeling (size 7 1/2) . Padding to the top head area has period "5" written in black marker with "72" in blue pen possibly denoting its year. Small piece of vintage linen tape is found on the interior to reinforce the side padding. The offered example is being offered for the first time publicly by the original recipient.
