Description: "Casey at the Bat" glass lantern slides c.1900-15. Set of (8) 3.25"x4" hand tinted slides illustrating the classic Ernest Thayer poem. After initial publication in 1888, the poem became immensely popular with the American public and the tale of the beloved "Casey" was told through live stage performances and illustrated on theater screens throughout the country. This is the first set of these lantern slides we have encountered and is possibly unique offering fine display value. Very light wear throughout with each bearing paper "Williams, Brown, & Earle" manufacturer's label with handwritten identifier and sequence number: EX-EX/MTEstimated Price Range: ($750-$1,250)
