Description: Significant Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mel Ott, and Bill Terry autographed photograph c.1930s. Period sepia toned 8"x10" framed photograph has been signed on the front by Ruth, Gehrig, Ott, and Terry. The vintage black fountain pen signatures rate 8 to 9 out of 10, with the exception of Gehrig, which has faded slightly to a 7 out of 10. The rise in popularity of vintage baseball photography has spurred an even deeper interest in period signed pieces. There is an inherent challenge in completing any group signed item, particularly considering the era in which this item was signed and that the subjects were not all on the same team. This piece, originating from the Muller collection, was personally carried up to each subject by an obviously dedicated collector and stood as his most cherished possession until the time of his death. Included is a vintage copy of the photograph, taken when all signatures remained bold. One of the finest signed images of its type that we have handled.
