Description: Tom Fears 1947 U.C.L.A. Most Valuable Player trophy. Nicely crafted vintage figural football trophy was presented to Tom Fears as the Most Valuable Player of the U.C.L.A. football team for the 1947 season. Columnar body supports a silver plated figural football atop a painted metal plinth. Applied placard is inscribed, "Most Valuable Player U.C.L.A. Football Team 1947 Awarded by Los Angeles County Council American Legion: Tom Fears". 15" tall with moderate surface wear and original patination. Marked with "So. Cal. Trophy Co." metal label on interior of the base. Fears enjoyed a fine Collegiate career earning All-American honors in two straight seasons. He went on to become one of the finest receivers of that era in the NFL earning a significant distinction as the first player in NFL history to line up outside of the team making him the first true "wide receiver": EX
