Description: 1887 Old Judge N172 complete set of Browns Champions. The thirteen St. Louis Browns Champions cards, issued as part of the 1887 Old Judge N172 series, celebrate the 1886 World Champs and is an immensely popular subset. Cards include Comiskey, Gleason, Welsh, O'Neil, Robinson, Latham, Von Der Ahe, Hudson, Kemler, Caruthers, Nicholl, Foutz and Bushong. The following group was removed from a single 19th century scrapbook, which can be credited with preserving the extraordinary image quality and crisp contrast demonstrated throughout. The majority of the cards show irregularly cut borders and the backs of each have benefited from professional restoration (likely reversible) to mask paper loss resulting from scrapbook removal.
