Description: Fine Oakland baseball team imperial size cabinet photograph c.1880-90s. Impressive mounted 18"x22" albumen image depicts the well uniformed Oakland team posed in a studio setting. Image quality remains very good to excellent with well defined contrast and clarity for its size. The surface of the photo has some areas of soiling primarily to the background area at the top margin. The Oakland team was one of the clubs in the California League of the late 19th century. From 1887-1899, several short lived baseball circuits were formed in California, none of which enjoyed any notable success. Finally, in 1903, the Pacific Coast League was born and remains in existence to date. Highly desirable large format team image in a notably scarce size: EXEstimated Price Range: ($3,000-$4,000)
