Description: Live Oak baseball player cabinet photo c.1870s. 4 1/4"x6" cabinet photo features a uniformed player from the Live Oak team from Lynn, Massachusetts. The unidentified player is rendered in great clarity. Photographer's studio printing on the bottom margin reads "Phillips, Lynn" with a logo at center. Tack holes appear at top and bottom edge and mount shows moderate edge and corner wear. There is light pencil writing on the otherwise blank back. The Live Oak team will be forever remembered as the first professional team to include an African American baseball player in the history of the game.
