Description: ***UPDATED DESCRIPTION*** 1961 Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris large format original photograph. Large and impressive 15"x19" (visible area) black and white photograph of Mantle and Maris was captured during their historic home run chase of 1961. Photo shows outstanding clarity and contrast with no noticeable condition faults apart from a few areas of minor surface crazing. Photographer's ink notation at bottom center reads "Photo by Bob Olen N.Y. Yankees 1961". Bob Olen was the Yankees official team photographer from 1947 to 1966. The photo was obtained by Mantle's business partner Harold Youngman from the period of 1961-63 and was displayed at Mickey Mantle's Holiday Inn in Joplin, Mo. The photo remains in its original mat and frame, just as it hung for decades in the hotel's bar and memorabilia room.
