Lot Number: 507

Description: Unique June 28, 1970 Roberto Clemente single signed baseball dating to the final game played at Forbes Field. Off white Giles NL ball has been signed by Clemente on a side panel in blue ink rating 8/9 out of 10. The "er" in Roberto has a slight smudge (original to its signing) and Clemente himself added a date of ""June 28, 1970"" beneath the autograph. Sweet spot displays a handwritten salutation from Clemente, "I hope the boys will give you the same thrills at the new ballpark as they did at Forbes Field". The salutation remains clearly legible rating 7/8 out of 10. The ball was originally presented to a Pirates executive on June 28, 1970, the date of the final game played at Pittsburgh's hallowed Forbes Field stadium, which had opened in 1909. Having spent nearly his entire 17-year career playing there, Roberto Clemente was, without question, the finest outfielder in team history to grace Forbes Field. Excellent high grade Clemente single signed baseball with very desirable handwritten dating/salutation in relation to the final game at Forbes Field. Includes LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA: Ball: EX-MT, Signature: NM (with note to smudge), Salutation: EX-MT
