Description: Fine bronze figural baseball trophy c.1928. Large 19" tall figural batsman mounted upon a rectangular pedestal base is constructed of a composite medium with a solid bronze overlay. Retains a very fine and attractive original patina. Three applied bronze placards are affixed to the front of the base with dating and titling to include, in part, "Vice Presidents Trophy to be Presented to Central Region Base Ball Championship". Impressed moniker and signature of the artist are found near the batter's foot. The bat is of the period, and while it appears to differ, slightly, in color/tonality from the statue itself, there is no evidence that an original bat had broken off from the statue. Handsome and likely unique specimen is one of the finer examples of such period baseball figurals that we have handled: EXEstimated Price Range: ($3,000-$4,000)
