Description: 1911 Chalmers Trophy Commission Dinner program. Rare original two-page program from a dinner at Hotel Astor in New York on October 17, 1911 that celebrated the leading batsmen of the American and National Leagues for the 1911 season. The Chalmers Award is largely considered the first modern era Most Valuable Player award with the winners receiving Chalmers automobiles as prizes. Ty Cobb and Chicago's Fred Schulte were Chalmers Award recipients in 1911 and are pictured on the program's interior. The cover features an image of a baseball game in progress and decorative rendering of period equipment. Name "H.P. Edwards" is printed on lower left corner of cover. Program has separated at spine and has been professionally repaired. Program is otherwise fairly clean and well preserved: VG-EX w/ note to repair
