Lot Number: 170

Description: Fine 1948 Pee Wee Reese Brooklyn Dodgers road jersey. Road grey flannel Brooklyn Dodgers jersey worn by Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese bears the "Dodgers" team name across the front. Original #1 remains affixed to the reverse and MacGregor/Goldsmith labeling remains inside the collar. Cream colored strip tag is found below with "Reese 1" chain stitched in red. A small strip tag with "1-48" chain stitched in red is sown on the interior tail front. The jersey displays beautifully with evident use while retaining fine original color to the lettering and numerals. Front of the shirt has a few very minor soiling spots mentioned for accuracy only, and has been signed, "Pee Wee Reese #1" in blue sharpie across the tail front. Reese was a perennial All-Star and a key member of the Dodgers' golden era in the 1940s and 50s. Reese finished in the top ten of the NL Most Valuable Player voting eight times. Along with the 1948 Jackie Robinson jersey, the Pee Wee Reese jersey was recently on display at the Museum of the City of New York in an exhibition called Glory Days: New York Baseball 1947 - 57. It is being offered publicly within the hobby for the first time and is without question one of the finest Reese game jerseys to have come into the marketplace. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions (jersey) and JSA (autograph): EX-EX/MT
