Lot Number: 167

Description: Superb 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers team autographed display banner. Original satin banner was issued to welcome the NL Champion Dodgers back to Brooklyn after the 1947 World Series. Measuring 36"x37", the banner has been archivally mounted and framed to an acid free linen backing. Displayed throughout the front are the autographs of (38) players and related officials of the team to include Jackie Robinson (rookie), Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Arky Vaughan, Red Barber (announcer), Barney Stein (team photographer), Carl Furillo, Hugh Casey, Dixie Walker, B.E. Shotton. Signatures all remain quite bold as the banner was carefully preserved by the family for over 60 years since its signing and as such range between 7-9 out of 10. The banner itself has a few typical areas of minor surface creasing, some of which have been lightly reinforced from splitting. Incredible autographed display piece which is the first of its type that we have encountered. Includes LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the family of the original recipient: Banner: VG-EX, Signatures: Range EX-NM

Estimated Price Range: ($5,000-$7,500)
