Description: 1954 Whitey Ford New York Yankees home jersey. Classic pinstriped flannel jersey was worn by Whitey Ford during the 1954 season. The jersey retains its "NY" patch on the front, which is believed to be original to the shirt, but has reinforced/replaced interior stitching. Back of the jersey has a restored #16, which had been previously changed to another number after being sent down to the Minor Leagues. Spalding tag with size 42 flag tag remains affixed inside the collar area, and tail front has "16 E.Ford" chain stitched in navy blue. Interior tail retains its original dry clean tag with "Set 1 1954" flag tag. The shirt shows evident use while retaining a fine overall appearance. The 1954 season saw Ford compile a record of 16-8 earning his first All-Star game appearance. The offered jersey represents one of the earliest Ford home flannel shirts to have entered the marketplace.
