Description: ***UPDATED DESCRIPTION*** Cardinals minor league jersey attributed to Yochim brothers Ray and Lenny c.1940s. Home flannel jersey retains its original heavily embroidered Cardinals logo on the front with matching red piping. Original #18 remains affixed to the back. Wilson manufacturer's tag remains in the collar with adjacent size "42" flag tag. The jersey shows light wear with some light scattered staining. Ray Yochim appeared in only four games as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals over the course of the 1948-49 seasons. The jersey comes with a letter of provenance signed by Ray Yochim's brother Lenny Yochim, who himself appeared briefly in the Major Leagues. The letter erroneously states that the jersey was worn by Ray Yochim as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. It has been determined that the jersey is a minor league jersey based on the manufacturer (Wilson), style (Cardinals' pro shirts from this era were zip-front), and lack of chain-stitching on the front tail. Both Ray and Lenny Yochim played for minor league teams nicknamed the Cardinals, and therefore the jersey could be attributed to either player.
