Lot Number: 299

Description: 1969 Rico Carty/Orlando Cepeda Atlanta Braves professional model home jersey and pants. White home pinstriped flannel jersey features Braves script lettering on front and number "20" on back. Strip tag in collar features "Carty 1969 - set 2" in black chain stitch. Embroidered Braves logo patch appears on left sleeve. Wilson manufacturer's tag on the front tail notes size "42". Interestingly, Rico Carty wore number 25 in 1969. The only player to wear number 20 for the Braves in 1969 was Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda, who wore the number for part of the season before switching to number 30. Underneath the "0" on the back number is the clear outline of a "5," providing clear evidence that what was originally Carty's jersey was converted for use by Cepeda. No Braves player wore number 20 the following season in 1970. Accompanying the jersey is a pair of matching pants with Wilson tagging in waistband noting size 36. A strip tag notes year "1968" in chain stitch. Uniform numbers "20", "40" and "51" are written in waistband in black marker with the first two having been crossed out. Both garments show light to moderate usage wear, retaining superb display quality. Important and fascinating Braves ensemble linking two of the teams great stars of the era. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX-MT

Estimated Price Range: ($1,500-$2,500)
