Description: Exquisite figural baseball music box c.1920s. Ornate silverplated figural music box is composed of an oversized baseball shaped compartment atop a diamond shaped base with crossed bat decoration. The lid to the baseball compartment lifts to reveal a windup music box which plays "Take Me Out To The Ball Game". Craftsmanship is of the highest quality inclusive of intaglio decor etched throughout the surface of the piece. One of only a handful of documented examples known. Of those known, two were presented to baseball luminaries such as the Wrigley family of Chicago. The music box remains in outstandingoriginal condition and appears to be in "running order" but is in need of a tuning as the music plays sporadically.
