Description: 1974 Bucky Dent "Chicago Rookie of the Year" award. Round wooden plaque (12" across) has a metal plate affixed which displays a large Chicago Chapter "BBWAA" (Base Ball Writers Association of America") logo at the center. Text below reads "January 18, 1975 Chicago Rookie of the Year, Bucky Dent, History's Best First Year Sox Shortstop, 1974." Light wear including a few small flakes of missing finish. After making his debut with Chicago in 1973, Dent hit the minimum game limit for a Rookie in 1974. He became the everyday shortstop for the White Sox, playing outstanding defense while batting .250 with 17 stolen bases. His quickness, strong arm, and reliable fielding made him one of the more promising young infielders in the American League.
