Description:1972 Jim Kaat Gold Glove Award. Prestigious figural award as presented annually to the premier defensive players of the National and American League by position. Wooden base has a platform affixed which supports a full size gilt painted Rawlings leather glove with "Major League All Star Fielding Team" text. A pair of ornate holders on either side hold baseballs which have likewise been finished in gold. Affixed to the lower front is a brass placard reading, "P - Jim Kaat - 11th Award, 1972 The Sporting News American League All-Star Fielding Team". Mounted just above is an additional plaque with a slightly faded portrait of Kaat. In fine overall condition with some light natural age and handling wear including a few small scuffs. A pair of Velcro strips are affixed to the underside along with a "Minnesota Hall of Fame and Museum" label (presumably related to a period of time in which it was displayed there).
