Description: 1964 Jim Kaat Gold Glove Award. Prestigious figural award as presented annually to the premier defensive players of the National and American League by position. Walnut wooden plinth base displays a full size gilt painted Rawlings leather glove with "Major League All Star Fielding Team" text. Figural baseball shaped finial is affixed in front of diamond shaped wooden back splash with brass facade having "Rawlings Gold Glove Award" inscribed on front. Brass placard on the base front reads, "P - Jim Kaat - 3rd Award, 1964 The Sporting News American League All-Star Fielding Team". Displays very nicely with the brass plate on lower front being a modern replacement and the glove support was likewise redone. Kaat won (17) games for the Minnesota Twins in 1964 and the following season would help lead the team to the American League title.
